The Barbican – Ragnar Kjartansson – July 2016

‘One of the most celebrated performance artists anywhere’ New York Times

The Barbican was the first UK gallery to show an exhibition of internationally acclaimed, icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson Works and ArtAV were very privileged to be involved. The exhibition included live performance, music, film, painting, sculpture, drawing and was a long overdue solo exhibit.

ArtAV installed Kjartansson’s The Visitors at this exhibit which was his nine screen audio visual works. Being a musically lead piece we used JBL LSR4328P Studio Reference Monitors to truly reproduce the intricate soundscape of the artwork. One of the key design briefs was that the projection technology was kept as unintrusive as possible. ArtAV chose the Optoma 415e due to them being compact, lightweight and yet still offer outstanding picture quality.

The synchronised playback system was ArtAV’s own bespoke design, built for the install. Utilising ArtAV’s Hypersync-e controlling Blackmagic Design Hyperdeck Studio players the system is able to produce 10 Bit 4.2.2 frame accurate video across all 9 screens.
