Elizabeth Price at the Void Gallery

Void Gallery in Northern Ireland, are proudly presenting Choreograph, the first solo exhibition in Northern Ireland from Turner Prize winner Elizabeth Price.

Following on from the success of Price’s SLOWDANS exhibition in London, which ArtAV also installed. Price has taken TEACHERS part of the SLOWDANS trilogy, a four screen projection in itself and accompanied it with her new work FOOTNOTES. Formed from four chapters the single screen works of FOOTNOTES were made during the global lockdown and feature content from the internet, hand built sets and infra-red recordings.

Price’s works hail from the digital, with computer animated voices, graphics and a saturated colour that give her works a unique vision often examining the transition from the age of industrialisation to the digital age.

Once again it was a pleasure working with Elizabeth and her team on realising this, her latest exhibition. The ArtAV install team having worked with Elizabeth on her last installation were able to have the works installed and set before Elizabeth arrived to make final minimal adjustments.

In terms of the technology used, the team used the Epson TH9400 UHD projectors that had been so successful on the previous SLOWDANS exhibition. Utilising Epson’s excellent colour management in the projectors, the projectors were able to really demonstrate the vibrant image, colour and contrast choices Price makes when delivering her works.

Playback was provided by networked and synchronised Brightsign players, allowing for a simple power on and play installation making the daily running of the exhibition as easy as possible.

To give us extensive audio control of the piece, ArtAV used a Behringer XAir12 audio mixer. This gave us many benefits from professional audio connectors, complex audio routing and full parametric EQ. All in a compact package that can be controlled from ipad, tablet or computer.

FOOTNOTES was displayed using ArtAV’s Panasonic Professional Flat Panel Displays. Panasonic panels are known for their excellent image quality and reproduction. With a limited reflection when displaying dark content they were an excellent choice for the often dark and high contrast works of Elizabeth Price. The thin bezel around the displays gives the whole installation a sleek look.

Again ArtAV used a Behringer XAir 12 for the audio paired with the gallery's own Genelec 8030s and an ArtAV Anthony Gallo TR1 Sub.
